Art show 70@70 celebrates 70th birthday with retrospective of artist's work.
What:
The retrospective art show 70@70 will celebrate 70 years of life and 55 years
of the art of Mae Wygant. The show will feature 70 paintings and drawings
ranging from very early literal works done in the artist's hometown of Erie,
Pennsylvania through her most recent abstract works done in Jacksonville,
Oregon.
Who:
Mae Wygant is an artist skilled in a full range of mediums including pencil,
pastel, charcoal, watercolor, oil and acrylic. From the start, Mae garnered
the attention of the art community with scholarships, awards, works juried
into many shows including the San Francisco Art Festival and the Zellerbach
Show, and invitations to join, among other prestigious organizations, the
National League of American Penwomen and the Society of Western Artists.
Mae received the rare honor of having two works accepted into the Chautauqua
National Exhibition of American Art.
Mae has explored a vast range of drawing and painting styles from very literate to full modern abstract, the style in which she currently finds herself most involved. But style has never limited Mae, it has freed her to express herself throughout her life. At any one time you can find both literal and abstract works in progress set up on easels in her Jacksonville studio.
